We currently have an excellent opportunity to join our Compliance Team as a Compliance Officer, with a focus on Food Safety.  This is a new role, increasing our compliment of Compliance Officers from 1 to 2.

The role

A key part of our compliance team, as Compliance Officer you will be jointly responsible for the administration of the Compliance team.  You will also be responsible for ensuring that our store colleagues are given the right information in the right way, to fully understand the importance of compliance to Society standards and to food safety regulations.  You will work in close conjunction with our Operations and Learning & Development teams to perform a mixed agenda of planned and reactive work.

Working in partnership with the existing Compliance Officer, you will cover for each other’s absence, and give support to one another at busy periods.

You will be a team player ensuring processes are proactively managed using evidence led data. Part  of the role will be to carry out store visits and assist store teams with the implementation of any action plans or improvements that are required.

Our Ideal Candidate

With a strong background in administration and the ability to develop, implement, monitor and review policies, procedures, and working practices, you will work alongside the store teams to ensure store operations are conducted in compliance with our standards. 

Carrying out food safety audits in store will be a key part of the role, therefore experience in this area is essential.

You will have knowledge of continuous improvement techniques and have the ability to apply these techniques within the workplace, and your coaching and motivational style will encourage the store teams to achieve plans, goals and targets; working closely with the operations team to ensure delivery. 

Essential requirements of the role: 

  • Proficient in the use of MS Office applications
  • Knowledge of Food Safety Legislation 
  • Understanding of Food Safety Management Systems 
  • Intermediate Food Safety Qualification – Level 3

Desirable:

  • Level 4 HACCP & Food Safety Qualifications – or the ability to work towards them

Reporting to the Compliance Manager – Food Safety, this role will mostly be Monday to Friday, however occasional weekend working may be required. The salary for the position is dependent on experience. 

As extensive travel to our stores is an integral part of the role a Society vehicle will be provided, and a full driving licence is essential.
