The Royal Environmental Health Institute of Scotland, a registered Scottish charity, is Incorporated by Royal Charter. The objects for which the Institute is established are for the benefit of the community to promote the advancement of Environmental Health by:
• stimulating general interest in and disseminating knowledge concerning Environmental Health;
• promoting education and training in matters relating to Environmental Health; and
• maintaining, by examination or otherwise, high standards of professional practice and conduct on the part of Environmental Health Officers in Scotland.
The key post of Director of Professional Development will become vacant at the end of February. The Institute is seeking to appoint a Chartered Environmental Health Officer, or an Environmental Health Officer working towards Chartered status, who will report to the Chief Executive and will be responsible for the day to day running of the Institute’s professional development activities.
The post is based in the Institute’s office in Edinburgh but requests for more flexible working arrangements will be considered. On occasion the post holder will be required to travel throughout Scotland and beyond. Work will also be required outwith normal office hours.
