This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience working for the Council’s Regulatory Services team.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and energetic Environmental Health Officer (EHO) to enhance our team. We can offer a dynamic and interesting environment and want to encourage applications from qualified Environmental Health Officers (newly or experienced) looking for a new challenge.
You will initially be based within the Food / Health and Safety team. The role will predominantly be carrying out Food Law inspections. In addition, you will be required to investigate any health and safety accidents and conduct investigations when required.
This position plays a vital role not only in encouraging legislative compliance, but carrying out enforcement action, where necessary.
In addition to undertaking Food and Health and Safety duties you may also be required to undertaken duties within the wider Regulatory Services remit in relation to Environmental Health, on a rotational basis.
The Individual
We welcome applications from qualified Environmental Health Officers holding the REHIS Diploma in Environmental Health or its equivalent.
The successful candidate will be a highly skilled individual who can demonstrate initiative and take responsibility for decisions to achieve required results.
You should have some administrative experience and have good communication and inter-personal skills.
There is a requirement to have a detailed knowledge of relevant food and health and safety legislation, guidance & codes of practice.
You should be able to demonstrate effective communications in a range of circumstances including situations where acceptance is sought for difficult messages, and where a diverse range of views is held.
A valid, full UK driving licence is required as in this post you will travel to different locations throughout the Perth & Kinross Council area.
