For over 40 years ASH Scotland has played a key role in reducing the harm from tobacco in Scotland.  We have made significant progress but with over 10,000 Scots still dying every year from smoking related diseases and the gap between smoking rates in affluent and deprived areas widening, there is still a great deal of work to do especially in the areas of youth work and reducing health inequalities.

We want to support smokers to quit and prevent future generations taking up tobacco. The support of a committed Board is crucial in achieving our aims.  We currently have two vacancies on our Board and we are seeking to broaden the Board’s skills and expertise.  We would in particular welcome applications from individuals with experience of law or HR, working with or for young people, working on health inequalities, or with enforcement experience in local authorities. We want to appoint committed individuals who will contribute to the continuing strategic development and good governance of our organisation.

Being a Board member is unpaid, but direct expenses are reimbursed and induction and support provided. A time commitment of on average a few hours per month is necessary including four Board meetings a year in Edinburgh.

Closing date for expressions of interest:  12 noon, Friday 5th February 2016
