Job Purpose:

To implement the Council’s statutory responsibility for delivering Environmental

Health services within the public health and/or pollution control teams.

Aberdeen City Council Environmental Protection Team works to implement the Council's statutory responsibility for delivery Environmental Health Services in public health and pollution. We are looking for a talented and suitably qualified professional with knowledge and experience in a recognised Environmental Health field such as public health, housing, air quality, contaminated land or noise to join us as an Authorised Officer in our public health team.

You will have a Degree, HNC/HND or equivalent in Environmental Health or related science, building or housing discipline and a current full driving licence. You will be responsible for ensuring that statutory requirements are complied with taking enforcement action where necessary and implementing Council policies, investigating Environmental Health issues in relation to public health and taking appropriate action; organising and undertaking inspections, audits, surveys etc with a view to ensuring that risks to public health and safety are adequately controlled; maintain relevant databases and produce reports; encouraging compliance with the law and enhancement of public health through promotion, education and advice at all levels.
