The safety of bathers in swimming pools is enshrined in the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 however the skills to suitably and sufficiently assess risk, identify acceptable controls and train staff can be complex given the myriad of pool designs and bespoke risks involved at leisure facilities. If a person who is not competent in pool risk management cannot adequately control the risk, the consequences can be fatal.
The course is produced and delivered by Andy Ebben BEM of Aqua Leisure Safety, a leading expert on swimming pool safety and one of the UKs premier expert witnesses for both criminal and civil cases in relation to swimming pool safety.
This course will cover (but not limited to):
– General duties of the swimming pool operator.
– What a suitable and sufficient assessment of bather safety should include.
– Intervention priorities for EHOs – what to concentrate on during an inspection.
Participation in the event carries a maximum CPD value of 3 hours (core activity) for the REHIS Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Scheme. (The amount of CPD claimed should be reflective of new knowledge gained at the event).
