The Royal Environmental Health Institute of Scotland (REHIS) and the National Dog Warden Association (NDWA) are pleased to be providing training in relation to dog control.
The training will be delivered in two parts and while delegates are able to book on just one part, it would be encouraged for delegates to attend both parts.
The training has been developed with the support of the Scottish Government Criminal Law, Practice and Licensing Unit and the funding made available to enhance the training of those holding the dog warden role in Local Authorities can be utilized to send delegates. If your place is to be funded by this funding please note “Scottish Government” in the relevant box on the booking form and record the name of your own local authority Society of Chief Officers of Environmental Health in Scotland (SoCOEHS) representative who has approved your attendance at the training.
Effective and consistent enforcement across Scotland is crucial in addressing issues relating to dogs.
The training will provide details of the current legislation and a background to the development of that legislation; procedures on dealing with complaints regarding potentially out of control dogs; how to write, and what to write on, a Dog Control Notice; presentations from dog behaviourists showing how/why dogs react in different situations and the means to influence that reaction, and means of ensuring the safety of the enforcement officer when dealing with dog control complaints.
