The Health and Safety Executive would like to initiate a discussion forum for consultant and interested parties, working in Scotland, who provide services to companies on their control of workplace health issues, with a particular focus on workplace noise and hand-arm vibration.
We want to hear your thoughts on the future of professional competency, duty-holder’s expectations and the level of support from the Health and Safety Executives.

Michael Matheson MSP, Cabinet Secretary for Transport, Infrastructure & Connectivity has confirmed that he will give the keynote address and the Scottish Government are sponsoring our event again this year.
There will be a display of electric vehicles and exhibition stands.
The 3rd International Federation of Environmental Health (IFEH) Academic and 16th Makerere University Environmental Health Students’ Association (MUEHSA) Scientific Conference is to to be held from 9th to 11th April 2019 at Hotel Africana in Kampala, Uganda with the theme "Environmental Health: A Cornerstone to Achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs".
This year, the World Health Organisation will publish a revised edition of International Classification of Diseases (ICD-11), which will include Hoarding Disorder as a distinct mental health condition.
Big data sets and analytics are being used to protect Scotland’s environment, improving air quality, noise mapping, energy efficiency, promoting environmental justice, tracking climate change, monitoring water quality and evaluating land quality.
Advances in data gathering and sharing mean that in 2018 we have more information available than in the past. Other examples include details of parks and other outdoor spaces, airport passenger numbers, bus/rail/tram and Subway services, live traffic information, car-park flows, road works and the location of public CCTV cameras.
Scientists in the Strathclyde Institute of Pharmacy and Biomedical Sciences are holding a one day Food Safety course for Managers in the Hospitality Sector on 13th September 2018. They are currently finalising the programme and this will be available soon.

In order to assist local authorities understand their own role as an enforcement authority under the Fluorinated Greenhouse Gas Regulations 2015 ("the F Gas Regulations"), it is proposed to have a half day training/information event to be held at SEPA’s Stirling Office on the 20th March 2018. This will be an all morning event with a planned start time of 10am and will run until not later than 1pm.
The F gas Regulations name the Scottish Ministers, SEPA and Local Authorities as the enforcing authorities in Scotland.
