The event will celebrate and reflect on the implementation of the Scottish Diet Action Plan (SDAP) since 1996, as identified in the SDAP Review report. In addition, participants will have the opportunity to consider the key contributors to success in their own food and health work locally.
Donations in lieu of gifts to speakers and chairmen and proceeds from a raffle at the REHIS Annual Conference Dinner have raised the sum of £615 for the Scotland Chikwawa (Malawi) Health Initiative. The money raised will be used to fund food hygiene training in the Chikwawa region in southern Malawi.

REHIS is delighted to announce the launch of a new feature on its homepage.
The first new feature is the addition of the 'job vacancies - opportunities in environmental health' portal on the homepage. This feature will allow access to current vacancies in the Scottish environmental health community.

The Awards are presented to people who have achieved the highest marks in Food Hygiene,HACCP and Health and Safety Courses run by REHIS Approved Training Centres. The Awards are sponsored by Highfield Ltd and are an annual event at the REHIS Conference.The Awards were presented at Glasgow City Chambers by Helen Greenhow from Highfield and John Stirling,President of REHIS on the 22nd November 2006.
Earlier this year the Institute sent questionnaires to a random sample of 100 Environmental Health Officer members to establish levels of post-qualification training undertaken, to seek views on current post-qualification opportunities offered by REHIS and to ascertain opinion on future post-qualification training and development needs. A report was submitted to the Environmental Health Promotion Committee in September last year and the findings are now being evaluated and will be reported on in the near future.

The 1000th REHIS Food and Health Course Certificate has been presented to Ann Sargent of South Ayrshire Council. Ann received her certificate from REHIS President Bernard Forteath with South Ayrshire Councillor Pam Pearson at a presentation ceremony in Ayr.
The course,which is proving to be very popular,is available at REHIS food safety training centres throughout Scotland.

The 18-24 age group of the working population is more at risk of suffering accidents in the workplace than any other. In an attempt to help employers tackle these statistics, REHIS has devised an Introductory Course aimed at young people starting work. Details of the course were revealed at the REHIS Conference in Glasgow by Graham Walker, Director of Training.
