Minister for Public Health and Sport, Shona Robison MSP, launched the REHIS Elementary Control of Infection Course at Dundee College on Monday (16 March). This new short course is aimed at care staff employed in non-NHS care premises such as homes for the elderly and nurseries. The syllabus is designed to provide candidates with the under-pinning knowledge to enable them to develop the following core competencies:
•a knowledge of the hazards
•a knowledge of the risks
•an ability to assess risks
•an understanding of how to break the chain of infection
•an awareness of local and national policies
•an awareness of their accountability and responsibility, and
•an understanding of how to comply with the law.
