Renfrewshire Council are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join their Environmental Health, Business Regulation Team. The role will involve assisting and supporting Environmental Health enforcement officers in the delivery of a range of regulatory and statutory services. These are aimed at protecting the public and the environment through monitoring, auditing, providing information and advice and formal enforcement.
It is expected that you will undertake the scheme of practical training required to attain the Scottish Food Safety Officer’s Registration Board Higher Certificate in Food Practice, to enable career progression to an Authorised Officer and carry out food law activities.
You should have effective communication, reporting, IT and interpersonal skills, an understanding and Knowledge of legislation and application of standards & guidance, The ability to relate to and deal effectively with the general public and partners and ability to ensure confidentiality when performing duties and meeting Data Protection requirements.
You must be able to work effectively within a team and as an individual, able to work under pressure with a track record in achieving time scales and targets and the ability to deal with and manage potentially confrontational and difficult situations.
You must have a flexible approach to work, be able to carry out the role with credibility and professionalism and have the ability to adapt quickly to any changes in legislation/guidance/working practices.
It is essential that you hold a Higher National Diploma (HND) in food technology/ food quality assurance management and or BSc (Hons) in food science or equivalent.
A current full driving licence is also essential.
Knowledge of how to apply relevant legislation to complex situations to ensure compliance is desirable.
