As the 4th largest authority in Scotland we want to do more, we have ambitious plans to regenerate our communities, build new homes, create employment and attract investment to North Lanarkshire by ensuring communities and local environments are attractive places to live and work.
We are looking for a self-motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our Private Sector Disrepair Team who will utilise available enforcement powers to support the agenda of improvement within the built environment of North Lanarkshire.

You will be part of a team responsible for conducting programmed inspections of HMO premises, assisting the administration and enforcement of landlord registration, investigate enquiries regarding housing disrepair including failures of the Tolerable Standard and Repairing Standard, and the investigation of statutory nuisance complaints in relation to property disrepair whilst ensuring compliance with relevant legislation. You will also assist in the implementation of strategies to address emerging statutory responsibilities and priorities, for example, related to energy performance certification and short-term letting.
It is essential that applicants hold a degree in Environmental Health or equivalent, and a REHIS Diploma in Environmental Health, or equivalent. You must also have a sound knowledge of current environmental health issues. In addition, you must have the ability to work to specific deadlines and possess excellent communication and IT skills. A current driving licence is essential. REHIS membership is desirable.
In line with current Council working practices, the post requires that you adopt an agile working approach.
