Based in Fairfield House in Dalkeith, we require an enthusiastic and committed Environmental Health Officer to work full time, on a permanent basis, in the areas of Food Safety & Health and Safety.  

You must hold a degree in Environmental Health and should hold the post-graduate REHIS Diploma in Environmental Health or the equivalent. We will consider applications from those working towards attaining their professional Diploma. You must have a sound knowledge of food safety & health and safety legislation and be able to demonstrate ongoing professional development in those areas.

REHIS or equivalent membership is desirable.You will be responsible for a varied workload dealing primarily with businesses and duty holders across Midlothian. You must have the ability to work to specific deadlines and possess excellent communication and IT skills.  You will be expected to make a positive contribution towards the development of the service and the health and safety of consumers and workers in Midlothian.We will provide you with training and development opportunities, flexible working and the use of modern technology.   Future opportunities may exist for staff to work in other areas of environmental health.

A current driving licence and use of a vehicle are essential.The Midlothian Council Environmental Health Team is committed to delivering a professional service, continuous improvement and support to the local economy.
