As the UK’s leading food safety providers, Lloyd’s Register’s retail and hospitality specialists (formerly trading as Acoura Consulting), are looking for Retail and Hospitality Technical Officers to join the business.
Lloyd’s Register (LR), work with some of the world’s largest supermarkets, restaurant and pub chains and require Retail and Hospitality Technical Officers to carry out a dual role, providing technical advice to clients on individual queries and carrying out food safety audits to individual client requirements.
The post holders will support our Complaints and Compliance Management Team who are based in our Edinburgh office. They will help the Operations Manager of the CCMT to focus on good practice, trending of accidents and complaints, and notifying the responsible account manager so that appropriate action can be taken. Providing more in-depth Environmental Health knowledge should any incidents require it. Incidents can range from alleged food poisonings and allergen issues (AFP) (singular and outbreaks), food complaints, fatalities accidents, incidents and enforcing authority enquiries.
The Retail and Hospitality Technical Officers will help with Policy reviews and drawing up risk assessments with support from the Technical Consultant.
The role will include carrying out food and safety audits, equivalent to 2 days per week.
You will have detailed working knowledge of the legislation, be educated to degree level in Environmental Health and be working towards a REHIS Diploma in Environmental Health. The post would also suit an environmental health graduate looking to progress through the professional qualification as an unattached student/trainee. This is an ideal role to gain food safety and health and safety experience and the in house qualified EHO’s can offer guidance and support in working towards the professional qualification.
Experience working a local Authority Environmental Health Department, or the Retail/ Hospitality sector is desirable but not essential. As is knowledge of auditing/inspection of the Retail/ Hospitality sector.
