Economy, Planning and Employability Services is a key service combining Economic Development and Planning which has developed an ambitious economic growth and regeneration strategy for Fife. The Protective Services element forms a wide range of statutory and advisory services designed to protect public health and consumer safety through environmental health and trading standards functions.You will be working within the Building Standards & Public Safety – Private Housing Standards Team, supporting, administering, inspecting and enforcing Private Housing Standard’s legislation in the areas of: private housing condition (i.e. repairing standard, below tolerable standard, serious disrepair), houses in multiple occupation, Fife Council’s Scheme of Assistance, statutory nuisance, private water supply improvement and the licensing of caravan sites. You will also support wider Building Standards and Public Safety functions and enforcement activity by working across the wider Team as necessary.In addition to carrying caseload and leading on identified project work you will provide day to day supervision and technical support to technical officers within the Private Housing Standards Team.You must have a degree in Environmental Health or equivalent with experience of working in a Private Housing Standards environment. Knowledge and understanding of private housing standards issues and legislation, buildings condition and disrepair issues and health & safety legislation is also essential.
