Providing for the population and visitors requires services and facilities that meets their needs including entertainment, restaurants, bars and cafes. Edinburgh is an important financial centre and is home to a number of universities and colleges and some manufacturing. This dynamic operating environment and the impacts of both technological and legislative change require a strong Environmental Health Service performing to the highest standards of competency, service delivery and professionalism. The Environmental Health Service comprises four teams: one covering Environmental Protection and three covering Food, Health and Safety. We are looking for enthusiastic and energetic EHOs to enhance our teams.

These posts will be based in the Council's Headquarters in Waverley Court, East Market Street. Some work out of normal office hours including stand-by will be required.

Our salary range typically reflects the initial starting salary and annually increases until it reaches the top of the range.  For roles in grade 5 or above, annual increments in our contribution zones are dependent on achieving agreed performance goals.
