Based within Protective Services, the successful candidate will be expected to carry out environmental health functions within Aberdeenshire’s geographical boundaries. Where the role will primarily be focussed on the Services response to COVID 19 there may be a requirement to carry out wider Environmental Health duties.

A knowledge of Public Health, particularly in relation to coronavirus legislation would be an advantage however, suitable candidates who do not possess such knowledge will be provided with necessary training. This post will initially be based within the COVID 19 team however, there may be a requirement to support the Service by assisting with wider public health or environmental health duties.

The successful candidate will be required to provide advice to businesses to ensure compliance with the Coronavirus (Scotland) Act 2020 and associated regulations. The candidate will be expected to provide feedback, generate reports, and make recommendations to line managers.

The post requires excellent communication skills and the ability to engage with a range of stakeholders including businesses, residents, council services and external agencies.

The applicant requires to be flexible as there may be a requirement for some working out of normal office hours including weekends.

It is essential that applicants hold an HND or equivalent or have relevant experience of a similar role. Knowledge of the application of legislation to ensure compliance would be beneficial. In addition, the candidate must have the ability to work to specific deadlines with good IT skills. There may be a requirement to carry out visits throughout Aberdeenshire, a current full driving licence is essential. Due to current COVID restrictions the successful candidate must also be able to work from home.
