The Southern Centre, in conjunction with WaterSense Ltd, has developed a 2-day training event on risk assessing private water supplies.

The training will be delivered by Gavin McCulloch, Director of WaterSense Ltd. Gavin is a private water supplies specialist with a number of years’ experience in risk assessing private supplies in the UK. The training includes a 1 day classroom-based session covering legislation, preparation, hazard identification, write up and enforcement. Day 2 comprises of a walk-through of a private water supply from source to tap to gain experience of the practical skills required.

The training aims to provide officers with a grounding in undertaking risk assessments of private water supplies and will be adaptive to incorporate those with little or no PWS risk assessment experience, to those with considerable experience in PWS risk assessment as a refresher.

The training will incorporate the requirements of the new DWQR risk assessment format. No particular prior experience will be required but a basic grounding in PWS and the relevant Regulations will be helpful.

Number are strictly limited to 10 spaces to facilitate the practical element of the course. However, the course will be run in various locations and dates dependant on demand.

Participation in the event carries a maximum CPD value of 8 hours (core activity) for the REHIS Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Scheme. (The amount of CPD claimed should be reflective of new knowledge gained at the event).

This event is £180 to members and £230 for non-members and booking is essential. Please complete the booking form below and return it by email to Lynn Crothers at: lynn.crothers@scotborders.gov.uk and copy to Jane Barks at jb@rehis.com.
