COURSE FULL*
*Note: RESERVE LIST BEING TAKEN

Designed for both new and experienced officers, this short course aims to update delegates’ understanding of the concepts of hazard and risk, their powers to control hazard and risk, and external expectations for their response to H&S incidents. It also provides a practical opportunity for delegates to refresh their knowledge of statement taking, and in particular their understanding of the law surrounding documentary evidence stored in computer systems. Finally, it introduces the basic concepts underpinning enforcement decision-making: the Enforcement Management Model (EMM)

The course will be delivered by Eric Pirie, a recently retired HSE inspector with 29 years’ experience in health and safety regulation. In addition to being the HSE’s Scottish training manager, Eric was the HSE’s lead inspector in Scots Law.

Refreshments and buffet lunch will be provided courtesy of REHIS Southern Centre. The event offers up to 6 hours CPD (Core Activity) for the REHIS Continuing Professional Development scheme.

The event is for member and non-members of the institute and is £100 for members and £150 for non-members. Numbers are limited and so early booking is strongly advised.
