The REHIS Northern Centre in conjunction with EMAQ are pleased to present a full day including workshop sessions on Noise and Planning, newly developed for the Scottish Planning System (programme to be finalised but will follow the format below).

This workshop will focus on dealing with the noise aspects of planning consents. It will focus on evaluation of noise impacts, setting appropriate and defensible standards, and securing good levels of amenity.

The workshop will evaluate measurement techniques, review noise impact assessment standards, and attempt to qualify those to provide appropriate context. The workshop will look at a number of case studies to support the key issues and provide for open forum discussion on them.

The examples used will look at a quarry/opencast mine/large housing development, a rail freight operation, a small industrial process, a fast food takeaway and an entertainment venue. We will cover aspects of the Licensing process for the last two case study. The objective of the workshop is to review the impacts, determine the best options for control of the site, and deal with any issues arising.

The workshop is aimed at any officer involved in the planning process including Planners, students and EHOs returning to planning work.

Participation in this event carries a maximum value of 6.5hrs (core activity) for the REHIS Scheme of CPD.
