Protective Services currently has an Environmental Health Officer vacancy within its Environmental Health (Water, Caravans and Private Housing Standards) team. 

The role will primarily involve work relating to Private Housing Standards and Caravan Site Licensing, including the investigation and enforcement of alleged contraventions of legislation, dealing with customer queries, the inspection of businesses/premises, and the assessment of applications related to licencing. There will also be an opportunity to participate in project-based work, working closely with colleagues across Fife Council and partner agencies. 

The role will involve attendance at multi-agency meetings, responding to Councillor / MSP enquiries and on occasion may involve statutory nuisance investigations, providing responses to consultation requests and undertaking tasks relating to Private Water Supplies.  

The main duties relate to regulatory activities including where required the enforcement of various statutes in assisting the Service Manager and Lead Officers in the discharge of Environmental Health functions. 

You will be required to work on your own and with other team members, to carry out the duties and functions of the team. You will also work with and refer to a range of other Council services and partner organisations. Working out with normal hours is required, including participation in Standby Service covering out of hours incidents & attendance at public meetings etc.
